Inequitable access to distributed energy resources due to grid infrastructure limits in California

چکیده
Persistent social disparities in the adoption of distributed energy resources (DERs) have prompted calls for enabling more equitable uptake. However, there are indications that limits inherent to grid infrastructure may hinder DER adoption. In this study we analysed new integration across California’s two largest utility territories. We found reduce access solar photovoltaics less than half households served by these utilities, and electric vehicle residential load electrification goals. connected results demographic characteristics also exacerbate existing inequities: increasingly Black-identifying disadvantaged census block groups disproportionately photovoltaic capacity based on circuit hosting capacity. Our illuminate need equity goals be an input design policies prioritizing upgrades. There racial wealth energy, although potential is not well understood. Grid Integration of Distributed Energy Resources in Smart Grid
As the gap between supply and demand of electrical power is getting wider the continuous power supply is not possible for all at the same time. Existing power grid is not well suited for 21 century power flow from generation to end user. To focus on the challenges of 20 century grid like blackout, Power discontinuity, Frequency variation, etc. the new concept of smart grid emerged. It is expect...
متن کاملModel Predictive Control of Distributed Energy Resources with Predictive Set-Points for Grid-Connected Operation
This paper proposes an MPC - based (model predictive control) scheme to control active and reactive powers of DERs (distributed energy resources) in a grid - connected mode (either through a bus with its associated loads as a PCC (point of common coupling) or an MG (micro - grid)). DER may be a DG (distributed generation) or an ESS (energy storage system). In the proposed scheme, the set - poin...
متن کاملInverter to Grid: Voltage Control Strategies for Grid Integration of Distributed Energy Resources
In the context of renewable energy integration into the distribution grid, this paper proposes introduces the concept of synchronized control of many inverters distributed on a low voltage network. Compared to the standard Volt-VAr control, the synchronized control presents substantial advantages. It can better control voltage on a line and add further services such as reactive power compensati...
متن کاملRandomized distributed access to mutually exclusive resources
Many systems consist of a set of agents which must acquire exclusive access to resources from a shared pool. Coordination of agents in such systems is often implemented in the form of a centralized mechanism. The intervention of this type of mechanism, however, typically introduces significant computational overhead and reduces the amount of concurrent activity. Alternatives to centralized mech...
